HOW DO I INSTALL A DIFFERENTIAL TEMPERATURE SENSOR?
MaxTow makes the installation process easy when it comes to installing the 1/8-27 NPT temperature sensor with waterproof connector that comes with this truck temperature gauge. As part of your MaxTow gauges you’ll receive everything required for installation, including a Weld-In Bung that can be installed directly into the rear of the differential case cover by drilling and welding this accessory using a 19/32” drill bit for placement. Some aftermarket differential case covers include a pre-installed ⅛” hole, pre-drilled and tapped for a ⅛” Sender Port to make the install process even easier. In addition to the Temperature Sensor and Weld-In Bung, MaxTow’s axle temp gauges also feature an 18’ sensor harness with a waterproof connector and 3' power harness. All mounting hardware and installation instructions are included with every purchase, along with a one-year limited warranty and free lifetime technical support.
DO I NEED A DIFFERENTIAL TEMPERATURE GAUGE?
Diff temp gauges are an essential monitoring tool for anyone looking to keep an eye on the temperature of the gear oil in the rear differential of their vehicle. The differential temperature directly affects the performance of the transmission and rear differential. If temperatures are running too high in the rear differential it could lead to premature wear in your truck. Knowing your differential temperature can be especially useful for trucks that are putting additional pressure on their engine by covering long distances or towing heavy loads. MaxTow axle temperatures gauges will provide you with those extremely accurate, at-a-glance readings that will alert you in the event your differential temperature is dipping too low or running too high.
